The Gingersnap Latte

Yes, that's right. Gingersnap Latte. I was corrected this morning when ordering my first of the season. It's no longer Gingerbread Latte, and the difference appears to be the crystallized ginger sprinkled on the top of the drink. I'm glad that I knew it was there, because when you get to the bottom of your drink and there are chunks of something... startling even if you knew something was there.

Anyway, how is it? Pretty good. The bite of the ginger cuts the formerly too sweet drink (at least in my opinion - I always only get 2 pumps in a tall because of that). I like the change, except for the chunks at the bottom. And, this is one of the few flavored Starbucks drink that I do, so I'm happy that they didn't totally change the syrup or something more drastic.

OH that is what my post is about too...

I love the Gingersnap...and the Gingerbread was my fave (I was going to through a FIT if it was much different). The crystallized ginger was great, I picked it off the top! :)

I get all of my drinks with two pumps (I get grandes) - I highly recommend the 1/2 syrup!

gingerbread lattes are my favorite too, and i was quite nervous when i saw the new name... but i have to disagree. i hated the chrystallized ginger. maybe it would be better if i picked it off the top, but by the time i got down to the bottom and they floated through the lid into my mouth, they were all soft and chewy and... well, gross, if you ask me. i will request they leave those off next time... but otherwise the gingersnap is just as good as the ginerbread. and i always get 1 pump syrup and also highly recommend it.

I agree with Alex - gingerbread lattes were the best holiday drink, and while I don't like the change, but it seems like if you skip the crystals it's all good.

I'll just have to stop by Starbucks today and give the new (improved?) drink a try. The Gingerbread was my absolute fav, so I'll have to see. Not so sure about the ginger... I'll give it a try though!

The one I've been really enjoying lately is the carmel and sea salt hot chocolate. Mmmmmmm....

Carmel and sea salt?!

I know the carmel and sea salt sounds weird, but man is it YUMMY!

I gave the gingersnap a chance today. The first sip, I got one of those chunks of crystallized ginger... I wasn't so sure about that. It's a bit stronger ginger flavor than the gingerbread was... and the end of the drink, with the chunks of ginger... I didn't like that at all. If I get one again, I'll forego the ginger on top. All in all, I give it a "C" and wish I had the old one back. But at least I have hot chocolate with carmel and sea salt, and there's always the pumpkin spice latte!

I've seen the salted caramel hot chocolate this year and heard it was good even though the word SALT should not be used in the same sentence as hot chocolate OR coffee! But i can't bring myself to try it....i just have to get something with coffee in it when i go there!

Yeah, it helps to have been ordered permanently way from caffeine from your doctor. I've been forced to venture out from coffee. I do drink a cup of decaf in the morning (even though it has a slight amount of caffeine) I just don't want to give it up entirely! But at Starbucks, the "decaf" is pretty high on the caffeine level. So I have to go light on it.

Don't let the "salt" scare you... they just sprinkle some on top... I mix it all together (with the whipped cream) and it tastes kind of like a carmel/chocolate salt water taffy. Mmmmmm.....

Honestly, I have never been so disappointed in Starbucks as I am this holiday season. Why did they change the name of the famous Starbucks "Gingerbread Latte" to "Gingersnap Latte"? And what a suprise I got when I was drinking it and I had a chunk in my mouth and I spit it out - it looked like apples! I thought "someone has put something in my drink" and I get a spoon out and spoon around the bottom of the cup and there were a ton of these little things that looked like apples. I went back to Starbucks and they said that these little things that looked like apples in my Gingersnap latte are new this year and they are crystalized ginger sprinkles. The sprinkles are hard when they spinkle it on top - but they soften in the coffee and are DISGUSTING! I am so sad, Starbucks. Why did you have to change a good thing?

Gingerbread lattes are my favorite. And today was payday, so I thought I should plurge and order one. Just to get the gingersnap concoction. It tasted like drinking sushi with all the ginger chunks. SICK. I'm so disappointed

I was a little annoyed at first but have to admit I now like the new latte better. Although, if you don't care for crystalized ginger, it is a good idea to ask for the drink without it. As you said, it's really weird to get to the bottom of the drink and have those little pieces of ginger.
